The My Hero Academia franchise has evolved way beyond its manga roots, expanding into a hit anime series and multiple video game adaptations. After crossing over to battle royale Fortnite in late 2022, the battle royale based on the anime, My Hero Ultra Rumble had its first open beta on the PlayStation in May and the results seem to be promising with 580,000 players logging in.
In a statement posted to the official My Hero Ultra Rumble Twitter account the brand announced that there were nearly 600,000 players over the beta period, which resulted in “very valuable play data and feedback from the survey.” The team is planning to implement this new data and have it reflected during the next playtest, although they don’t give a date for when that will be.
The post directs players to the My Hero Ultra Rumble developer blog, which can be found on the game’s official website or linked above. When the next playtest is announced, it will be posted on the website with information like how long it’s running and what platforms it will be available on. If it follows May’s MHUR update, it could be specific to one console, so make sure you’re prepared for that.
While it looks similar to other battle royales, MHUR provides quick matches and lets players take on most of the regular characters in the anime. The progress doesn’t carry over from the beta to the full launch, expected sometime in 2023, so make sure you don’t grind too hard before the full game releases.
