MythForce is an exciting first-person multiplayer combat roguelike meant to evoke the memory of classic Saturday morning cartoons kids watched growing up in America. MythForce recently had a trailer as part of the Nintendo Direct in June stating it was coming this year and has now announced that it will be launching on Sep. 12, 2023, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and on Steam.
The new trailer is a cartoon showing a party of four entering a castle to be met with evil forces, with the trailer being made up of in-game animations and fights. It shows all the characters working together to take on a large boss, as the camera pans between each of the classes. It also gives a look at what’s likely a major villain, and how the combat in these arena-type environments will work.
This title from developer Beamog is a roguelike, meaning that players will start over at the beginning each time they’re defeated, but with new advantages. The first-person gameplay is very reminiscent of titles like Warhammer: Vermintide, but with a unique spin that’s stuck somewhere between 2D and 3D animation in a really unique way.
There are a total of four characters in the game ranging the classic archetypes of Dungeons and Dragons, with the characters being Victoria the Knight, Rico the Rogue, Maggie the Mage, and Hawkins the Hunter. Each of these characters will provide different playthroughs while also allowing you to play alongside up to three of your friends.
The trailer has already received considerable attention on YouTube, likely pointing to great interest from players to engage with the cartoonish vibe that MythForce is promising.
