Digimon Survive is a fun twist on visual novels, integrating RPG elements and more. The latest trailer begins by explaining the world players will explore.

It’ll be divided into various sections, such as “School Area” and “Forest Area”, which can be accessed via the World Map.

Players will need to scan glitches to uncover clues that tie into the plot, but it can also help you acquire items. Equipment and Training Items can be used during combat to help win battles, increasing damage or resistance.

It’s a familiar mechanic for decisions to shape the way NPCs feel about the player. However, in Digimon Survive, it can also affect things like “karma” and Digivolutions. So, your Digimon might improve or suffer based on how you keep up their relationships.

This also has a serious impact on battle. The trailer goes on to explain that you can encourage your Digimon during combat, or even convince your enemies to become friends.

Finally, the new footage closes out by reminding players of the official launch date, July 29th, 2022. A special Launch Bonus will give fans a free Guilmon, one of the most recognizable characters from the franchise.

This also comes with HP Support Equipment, although it does seem like either of these rewards could simply be earned in-game.

So far, fans have mostly praised Digimon Survive’s footage. Many are impressed by the way it smartly blends two genres that fit Digimon so naturally. However, some aren’t too happy with the look of the world, which doesn’t quite match the digital feel of the source material and classic anime.
