The size of the upcoming God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla DLC has been revealed, clocking in at a hefty 8.394 GB in the EU and 7.667 GB in the US. The news comes via a PlayStation Game Size tweet. This means that you should be ready for a big chunk of space to be taken when the DLC is released on December 12, 2023.
While the tweet only provides details on the file size and release date, the PlayStation Blog has offered a more in-depth look at what players can expect from the DLC. The blog post titled “Journey to Valhalla” reveals that the DLC will be an epilogue to the events of God of War Ragnarok, following Kratos on a “deeply personal and reflective journey.” It’s free for anyone who owns God of War Ragnarok.
The DLC is set after the decisive battle against Odin, and after Atreus’ departure. Kratos finds himself on the shores of Valhalla with Mimir as his only companion. Here, he must face “echoes of his past” and overcome trials within himself.
The blog post also details the new combat system, which promises to be a blend of familiar God of War action and “fresh, experimental elements inspired by the roguelite genre.” Players can expect to face new enemies and challenges, with each attempt encouraging them to master different aspects of Kratos’ arsenal.
God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla will also feature five difficulty settings, allowing players to tailor the experience to their skill level. The DLC will also be separate from the base game, meaning players can jump in anytime without worrying about completing certain upgrades or reaching a specific point in the story.
However, since this DLC will assume that you’ve at least gotten as far as beating Odin, you’ll get a lot of spoilers. We recommend finishing the main game first, and then going into the DLC. Make sure to check out our God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla countdown so you know exactly when you can play!
