The Happy Tree Friends have been around for nearly as long as the internet itself, bewildering fans with its grotesque violence hidden under a cute facade. After a hiatus, the classic characters are back in a new DLC for The Crackpet Show, as well as a launch of a new episode coming later this afternoon at around 3 p.m. PT.

The new DLC for The Crackpet Show will feature nine playable characters that fans of the series will appreciate, with the new episode helping to build hype around the launch. While we previously reported on the new DLC, the news of the new Happy Tree Friends episode premiering on YouTube is a surprise to fans of the decades-long series.

With the monumental return of the cute and chaotic characters, it’s unclear if this episode is a one-time thing for the crossover or if there are plans to continue to make episodes in the future. Even still, the premiere linked above has earned over 2,600 likes at the time of writing, five hours ahead of the official launch of the episode.

It’s rare that players get a return of classic internet characters from that far back in its history, so new and old audiences are likely to tune into the new premiere from MondoMedia. Whether or not it can keep up its shock value in 2023 is yet to be seen, but the artists are likely to try.
