The latest unpacked trailer for Immortals of Aveum offers a closer look at its wide array of magic-based gameplay mechanics. This single-player, first-person magic shooter game stands apart by blending fast-paced combat with a broad assortment of magic spells.

In the game world of Immortals of Aveum, magic is the core of every aspect of life and powers the infrastructure across its five kingdoms. However, the kingdoms have been locked in a deadly conflict for control over this magic for thousands of years in a struggle known as the Ever War.

Players assume the role of Jak, a Triarch — a distinctive kind of spellcaster who can control all three magic colors with lethal accuracy. Jak must join forces with the Immortals, an elite group of battle mages from Lucium, in a race against time to stop the tyranny of Rashan’s Sandrak and prevent the world of Aveum from plunging into oblivion.

A device called a Sigil serves as the player’s weapon in the game, channeling their inborn power to become more effective and lethal during combat. There are three types of Sigils: Red Sigils enhance the player’s close-quarter combat capabilities and focus magic into potent bolts for long-range engagements. Green Sigils, on the other hand, fire swift, homing projectiles for more mobile maneuvers.

Additionally, players must manage their mana, the energy source for casting spells. More potent, Fury spells, drain the mana bar significantly, requiring players to locate and destroy mana crystals to refill it.

The game also includes control spells, which can manipulate the environment to solve puzzles or alter the course of combat. For instance, Jak can pull enemies towards him, slow them down, or stun them. Moreover, the game includes a devastating attack called “Immolate,” which gradually charges over time and releases a destructive beam of magic to disintegrate anything in its path.

Matching your magic attack color to the enemy’s magic color is an effective strategy for shredding their armor and reducing their defenses. Players can fine-tune their spellcasting with 25 different spells and over 80 unlockable talents. In addition to this, players can collect hundreds of unique items and boost their spells’ abilities and stats in combat by equipping Sigils, totems, rings, and bracers.

Set against the backdrop of lucid landscapes, players venture into unexplored depths, undertake high-risk missions, and become part of Lucium’s elite group of Immortals. Jak and the Immortals are racing against time as the Ever War continues, with the tyrant Sandrak gaining more power each day.

Overall, the new Immortals of Aveum trailer gives players a glimpse of the magical arsenal at their disposal in their quest to bring an end to the Ever War and save the realm.

Immortals of Aveum will be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on August 22, 2023.
