Skate. devs recently asked fans to begin signing up for an opportunity to participate in a closed alpha playtest, but new leaks have already shown off the opening intro for selected players.
Thanks to @just4leaks2, the footage lasts a full minute, revealing various mechanics and gameplay for new playtesters:
This footage comes hot on the heels of a full game leak yesterday, and shortly after releasing a surprisingly honest trailer called “Still Working On It”. The trailer showed off in-game footage, and asked fans to sign up for a closed alpha playtest.
Now, players can safely view some Skate. gameplay without worrying about downloading malware. The pre-alpha footage that was leaked today begins by revealing Fun City.
This is the “persistent, massively multiplayer” social world where players will explore and skate. You’ll be able to teleport directly to any point of interest.
A menu shows off multiple features for players to try, including Character Customization, player spectating, a gallery, AI controls and a Build Kit.
The Build Kit is undoubtedly going to be a hit, since fans will be allowed to generate limitless content with their own creativity.
This is similar to other park builders, as in classic sports games like Dave Mirra’s Freestyle BMX 2. However, in addition to making up wholly original spaces, players can also create new structures inside the existing maps to reach new areas.
The camera kit is simple but fun so far, showing off a variety of filters and hilarious stickers you can add to any moment, such as “Alien Eyes” and “Mean Old Man”.
A feedback tool, presumably unique to the playtest experience, will allow fans to share their opinions, concerns and suggestions. So, Skate. clearly has the fans in mind, aiming for a comprehensive experience that still hits some obligatory nostalgia.
