EVO 2023, the premier fighting game tournament, has not only featured intense matches but also various exciting reveals, including an in-depth preview of the forthcoming Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2. This highly anticipated sequel to the 2021 Nickelodeon crossover fighting game promises to bring an array of new playable characters and new gameplay mechanics.

Taking center stage at EVO 2023, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 offered a closer look at the new mechanics. In this new iteration, developed by Ludosity and Fair Play Labs, movement will be fully analog, allowing the characters to walk and run as well as move in any direction available to a control stick. In addition, tap-jump will now be an option and players will be able to set custom profiles with their nametag.

When it comes to defense, rolling spot dodging and air dodging are now all available. Light and strong attacks are still available but with added horizontal directions. Strong attacks can now be charged both on the ground and in the air and light aerial attacks now have a total of five options, including up, down, forward, backward, and neutral.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 has also redefined the blocking mechanic. While blocking attacks, players can still be pushed around and even go into a teeter and get pushed to the ledge by their opponent. Furthermore, players can only block a limited amount of damage for a limited amount of time before their bubble bursts, leaving them wide open for an attack.

Central to the game’s evolution is the introduction of the Slime meter, a new feature designed to elevate attacks and overall experience. During a match, players may build up their slime meter by hitting their opponent to enhance attacks, movement, combo game, and more. All special moves in the game will have a powerful slime version to explore.

As the showcase neared its conclusion, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 surprised attendees with the reveal of its latest roster addition, Plankton. The owner of the Chum Bucket enters the fray in a formidable mecha version of himself. While specifics of Plankton’s moveset were not extensively explored, the teaser showcased his ability to summon his wife, Karen, for assistance, along with his use of twin flamethrower-like weapons.

More character spotlights are expected to be revealed ahead of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2′s release later this year, so be sure to keep an eye out on the ongoing EVO 2023 event as well as on Nick Brawl Game’s social channel.
