Nintendo has announced a new Summer of Play Tour pop-up experience, which will visit nine different shopping centers across the US. It will run from June 15th through August 28th, 2023. The tour will be free and open to everyone.
According to today’s official event page, guests will be able to play games like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, try out Nintendo Switch – OLED model, take pictures and win prizes. You can get a full idea of what to expect thanks to a sample image of the event features, as seen in a new tweet from Nintendo’s feed:

Nintendo’s live events have consistently reflected their family friendly brand, so there won’t be games to purchase (let alone discounts), and don’t expect intense competitions. Instead, these celebrations are clearly small in scope and directed towards families, with activities for kids. The events will also pop up over the weekends, which will make it easier for kids to join in.
Although the event will be limited by the floor space of shopping centers, it’s nice to see the variety of consoles and games. The themed areas also look surprisingly detailed, with plenty of life-sized figures and colorful decor.
The Summer of Play Tour probably won’t interest older players, but it looks interactive and vibrant enough. It should also be fun to stop by if you happen to be a local and visit your mall anyways.
It’s sort of a warm-up for Nintendo Live, which is slated for September, a ticket-only event that will include a lot of the same features. However, that event will also have stage performances and actual tournaments, and it will only appear at the Seattle Convention Center.
