Splatoon 3 hasn’t had much news lately, but fans will finally get more than a few answers in a new Nintendo Direct that’s been scheduled for August 10th, 2022 at 6 AM pacific time.

Here’s the official announcement from Nintendo’s Twitter feed, which surprisingly added that the direct will last around 30 minutes:

Fans of the longtime series got an announcement trailer for Splatoon 3 an entire year ago, and it wasn’t until a couple of months ago that the devs revealed an official release date of September 9th, 2022.

For a quick recap of what to expect, you can watch some actual gameplay from the release date trailer on Nintendo’s YouTube channel here:

A 30-minute Nintendo Direct is pretty long, especially for a smaller title like Splatoon 3. In fact, it even runs longer than Pokémon’s recent “Presents” showcase, which showed off countless new features for Scarlet and the entire franchise.

Fans quickly responded to news about Splatoon 3’s sudden attention from Nintendo with relief, since Nintendo seems to have been stockpiling all of their information for this.

Some longtime players hope to learn about some of the newer ideas for this title, which has worried many due to a lack of content. At times, it does seem to look a little more like DLC for the previous title than a genuine sequel.

Some of the key features that fans are looking for include multiplayer changes, ranked, and new weapons or stages. Maps will generally make the biggest impact, but so far there’s only been news about one new level.

Splatoon has continued to be a colorful and beloved third-person shooter, which deserves more attention than it gets. You can read more about Splatoon 3’s latest updates and leaks by checking out the rest of our news section!
