There’s been a lot of speculation in the last few weeks about why the former voice actor of many of the Super Mario Bros. characters leaving his position at Nintendo. After the actor, Charles Martinet, responded recently that he was unsure what the new position of “Mario Ambassador” entailed, Nintendo has released a new video detailing his new role at the company.
The video features appearances from Martinet and Shigeru Miyamoto as they discuss how the actor will continue to travel the world and show up at Nintendo’s events. Miyamoto goes into detail about Martinet’s history at the company, asking fans to respect the actor for his work and even personally thanking him for the effort so far.
As previously stated, this video comes after there was speculation around what a “Mario Ambassador” was, with even Charles Martinet stating two days ago in Eurogamer that he wasn’t sure what his new role would be. However, it appears it has been made clear, with Martinet stating that he hopes to continue to travel and share the love he has for the Super Mario Bros. franchise.
It’s unclear if this video was planned ahead of time or if it was released in response to the article and speculation from industry professionals. There’s still no announcement about who the next voice actor for Mario will be, with players having to find out in the credits of Super Mario. Bros. Wonder.
