A recent tweet revealed that Tony Todd, the voice actor for Venom, did not get to hear all of his dialogue in the game. Apparently, only 10% of his recorded dialogue was used in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. This suggests that Insomniac Games may have cut a lot of Venom’s content from the game, which could be a sign that he will play a more significant role in future installments.
Venom was one of the most popular characters in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and many fans were hoping to see more of him in the game. The tweet was from someone who was at the Spider-Man 2 panel where Todd apparently said only 10% was used. The fact that so much of his dialogue was cut suggests that Insomniac Games may have had plans for him that were ultimately scrapped or something still coming.
Still, the fact that Todd recorded so much dialogue for the character is encouraging, as it suggests that there is still a lot of potential for him in the future. The unused dialogue might be something that the company holds onto.
It is possible that Insomniac Games is saving Venom’s unused dialogue for a future DLC pack or even a standalone game. The studio has already shown that they are willing to expand on the story of Spider-Man 2 with DLC, so it is certainly possible that they could do the same for Venom.
I think Insomniac Games has a lot more up their sleeves because it would be a shame if 90% of Venom’s dialogue just disappeared forever. The studio definitely has DLC in mind for the future.
