It’s been a rocky year since Overwatch 2 was released, with the developer pulling back significantly on some promises like PvE support. However, Blizzard has clearly been investing its time elsewhere, making sure to give iconic characters animated shorts, first with Kiriko, and now Soujourn has had something teased for this Friday, August 4, at 11 a.m. PT.

Overwatch posted the trailer for the new animated short “Calling” on the official Twitter account, stating that it will release in just a few days. The teaser is about 45 seconds long and shows Soujourn getting recalled to the Overwatch program after she was accused of being involved in some violent activities. Her beautiful dog Murphy is also featured trying to sneak a croissant.

Kiriko received an animated short alongside her release last year that showed her personality by working to defend two innocent people against some mobsters. This new short will likely show Kiriko in all her cyborg glory, fighting off the forces that had threatened her or those she cares about. It will likely serve as a stark contrast to the joy and positive energy shown in Kiriko’s video.

Overwatch 2 has made news recently due to the fact that it will be launching on Steam next Thursday, Aug. 10. This animated short will help to get players excited about the game’s release on a whole new platform, something that Blizzard has been hesitant to do in the past.
