Sony has released a new beta update for the PlayStation 5 system software. This beta brings features focused on the DualSense controller and the Share Screen feature. It is currently limited to invited users in select regions, but the update is expected to roll out globally in the coming months.
The update improves the audio capabilities of both the standard DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers. The built-in speakers can now produce louder sound, making in-game audio and voice chat more audible. Additionally, a new AI-powered noise cancellation model reduces background noise from button presses and game audio, leading to clearer voice chat. Users can also adjust the controller speaker volume directly from the control center.
As for the share screen, any viewers watching Share Screen in full-screen mode can now interact with the host’s gameplay in real-time. They can use pointers to highlight specific areas, draw lines on the shared screen, and send emoji reactions to encourage or celebrate gameplay moments. This feature is enabled by default but can be disabled by the host if preferred. The host and viewer must participate in the beta for this feature to work.
Honestly, this one is my favorite because it has so many uses and feels more like the viewer is participating than before. There’s also the addition of adjustable PS5 Power Indicator Brightness. Users can now customize the brightness of the PlayStation 5 console’s power indicator. This option is found in the Settings menu under System, then go to Beep and Light, and finally to Brightness.
It’s important to note that some features introduced in the beta might not make it into the final global release or could undergo significant changes. So everything above is subject to change.
