PlayStation has made a big improvement to its Game Help system. They’ve added a new feature called Community Game Help, which lets players get help from each other. This is on top of the hints from the game creators and official guides.
According to the PlayStation Blog, Community Game Help taps into the knowledge of the gaming community. Players can share their gameplay solutions, offer tips, and provide guidance for in-game challenges. The content can be anything from quick solutions to detailed walkthroughs, catering to different levels of support.
The enhanced Game Help will blend into the console’s interface. Players will see Community Game Help tips alongside the standard official hints when available for a supported title. This allows players to easily compare and choose the most suitable source of help. The new feature is aimed at spoiler-free assistance, but I’m not sure how that will work. Generally, many guides need to spoil pieces of the game. So unless these are being moderated before they go out, there’s no way to guarantee this.
All PS5 users can still access the core Game Help system, this is not a way to phase that part out. Community Game Help is just an added bonus available to everyone, regardless of whether they have a PlayStation Plus subscription. I would assume this feature is mostly available on PlayStation exclusive games.
PlayStation announced that Community Game Help will be available on all PS5 consoles later this year. However, for the feature to work, game developers will need to enable support for their games. PlayStation is encouraging developers to take advantage of this tool. This way, players can benefit from their communities’ collective knowledge.
I can see this going really wrong very quickly. Anytime you give users the ability to film or record their gameplay, you’ll get issues and situations.
