In an endeavor to compete with other services, PlayStation has been giving out free games for years to those who are subscribed to its premium online programs. Following rumors, PlayStation has released the three free games that players on the Plus subscription or higher will be able to redeem on Oct. 3, and they include The Callisto Protocol, Farming Simulator 22, and Weird West.
These titles announced by PlayStation are considerable additions to the platform since both Weird West and The Callisto Protocol were released in the last year and a half. Farming Simulator 22 is the latest in the franchise’s titles, being released near the end of 2021. All of these titles follow the raised price of all PlayStation Plus subscriptions earlier this month.

While most of these titles have done alright, The Callisto Protocol developer Striking Distance Studios announced that it would lose its CEO weeks ahead of this announcement. PlayStation likely cut the studio a deal for the limited free giveaway of the title, something that will hopefully help during the transition into new leadership.
It’s unclear if these new titles will be enough for players to buy into the additional price of the subscription. While these titles are pretty recent and reviewed okay, they’re just shy of the AAA expectations that some fans of the service might have been hoping for.
