A hero is needed once again, and Pokémon GO players are called upon to provide research support for Team Instinct leader Spark during the all-new Instinctive Hero event. This event, running from Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. to Monday, May 8, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time, is centered on hatching Pokémon and features the debut of Larvesta and Volcarona, as well as the chance to hatch Shiny Mantyke for the first time.
Starting with the Instinctive Hero event, the Torch Pokémon Larvesta and the Sun Pokémon Volcarona will become available in Pokémon GO. Players can hatch Larvesta from 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km Eggs and evolve it into Volcarona using 400 Larvesta Candy. During the event, trainers will also enjoy an increased chance of hatching Shiny Pokémon from 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km Eggs, as well as 2× XP and 2× Stardust for hatching Pokémon.

In addition to Larvesta, other Pokémon will hatch from 2 km, 5 km, and 10 km Eggs during the event. Furthermore, lucky trainers may be able to hatch Shiny Mantyke from 7 km Eggs for the first time in Pokémon GO, alongside other Pokémon like Mime Jr., Happiny, Timburr, Karrablast, Axew, Shelmet, and Goomy.
The Instinctive Hero event will also feature a Special Research story involving Team Instinct leader Spark. Trainers who complete this research will be rewarded with an encounter with Elekid wearing a Spark-themed accessory, which is exclusive to this Season. Lucky trainers may even encounter a Shiny Elekid wearing the Spark-themed accessory.
Event-themed Field Research tasks will also be available during the Instinctive Hero event. Upon completing these tasks, trainers will have the opportunity to encounter Pokémon like Magneton, Chansey, Electabuzz, Magmar, Snorlax, Mantine, and Chimecho, with the possibility of encountering a Shiny one as well.
