After its launch last year, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have seen the same treatment as other mainline games, receiving multiple rounds of DLC. The first part of the Scarlet and Violet DLC is The Teal Mask, with previews dropping this morning ahead of the full release on Sep. 13, revealing new moves, customization options, and quality-of-life changes.
These previews seem to have been limited specifically to Japanese outlets, with Serebii collecting some of the details in a post. Players can look forward to new TMs like “Grassy Glide,” “Burning Jealousy,” “Poltergeist,” and more. Players will also be able to find new clothes, hairstyles, and picnic supplies at the new Kitakami Center.

Popular gaming site Famitsu states the new “Japanese-style rural scenery” is presented in very high resolution, reminding the author of time in their hometown. Takeuchi Hakushu states that this DLC feels as if Pokémon has entered the real world, as opposed to the other way around, with the lore and stories of this rural area providing enticing.

Denfaminicogamer also shared its thoughts, with the author stating that though they didn’t have as much experience in rural environments, they still felt welcomed and comforted by the rural scenes in The Teal Mask. They also state that the best part of Scarlet and Violet is shown in this DLC, with players able to recognize where the Pokémon live and thrive.
