The beloved strategy game Pokémon Stadium, initially released in Japan in 1999 as Pokémon Stadium 2, is now available on Nintendo Switch for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members. The game features a 3D turn-based battling system with 151 Pokémon from the original Game Boy titles Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, and Pokémon Yellow.

Originally designed for the Nintendo 64DD, Pokémon Stadium shifted to a standard console game after the add-on’s failure. With the Transfer Pak accessory, players can transfer, view, organize, store, trade, and battle their Pokémon from the Game Boy games. The gameplay comprises four stadium cups, each featuring a series of three-on-three battles against a lineup of opponents, and Gym Leader Castle mode, where players challenge the eight Kanto gym leaders and the Elite Four.

The game became one of the best-selling Nintendo 64 titles, selling a million copies by the end of 2000. A sequel, Pokémon Stadium 2, was released in 2000 as a counterpart for Pokémon Gold, Pokémon Silver, and Pokémon Crystal. Fans can now revisit the classic Pokémon Stadium on Nintendo Switch, with the game now on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.
