PowerWash Simulator has officially revealed that a new Midgar Special Pack will be released on March 2nd, 2023. It will be free to all owners of PowerWash Simulator. The pack is going to feature five levels from the famous city introduced in Final Fantasy VII. Here’s the full announcement from the official PowerWash Simulator feed:

It seems that the devs are now fully invested in accessing even more popular IP, following the enormous success of January’s crossover with Tomb Raider. The collaboration caught some fans by surprise, but it turned out to be a perfect fit.

Just about any Square Enix property involves some adventure that would result in serious filth, which would need to be cleaned. And although Final Fantasy is far less grounded than Lara Croft’s familiar environments, it will always be fun to see the custodial side of grand adventures.

PowerWash Simulator has the ability to make any crossover title feel more realistic. And in cleaning up after familiar characters or worlds, there’s also innate amusement, and opportunities for interesting fan service.

It’s like the devs are delivering pure nostalgia that also stands alone. And since the update happens to be free, there’s a much-appreciated sincerity here. No one can claim it’s a cash grab. But it is definitely going to drum up interest from fans of all the collaborating IP, who might otherwise ignore the sim genre.

The pace of these special pack updates is certainly surprising, so they had to be lined up. It’ll be curious to see if another crossover will be announced in the next couple of months. There are countless other titles, each with their own unique environments, to explore and clean.

According to the official blog post, players will get to clean the Hardy Daytona and Shinra Hauler, Scorpion Sentinel, Seventh Heaven, Mako Energy Exhibit and Airbuster.
