In an impressive demonstration of its popularity, PowerWash Simulator, the indie game developed by FuturLab, has successfully attracted seven million players, marking a two-fold increase within the last six months. This game has carved a unique niche in the gaming landscape, allowing players to experience the simple satisfaction of power-washing various items to a perfect finish, thereby offering a soothing and relaxing gaming experience.
The exponential growth in the game’s player base is a testament to its appeal. Kirsty Rigden, the Co-CEO of FuturLab, conveyed her gratitude towards the supportive gaming community. “With over 7 million players, we are honoured that so many people have found their zen with PowerWash Simulator. The strength in our community is palpable,” stated Rigden. She further acknowledged the immense support received since the game was launched into Early Access, which has continued to strengthen even beyond the game’s official release.
The game’s popularity is not the only exciting news coming from FuturLab. The recent update to the game, known as The Muckingham Files, released in April 2023, broadened the original universe of the base game. This update invites players to explore previously unseen places, interact with new characters, and unravel fresh stories.
Alongside the game’s success, FuturLab also announced the appointment of Steve Tinkler, an industry veteran, as the company’s Chief Financial Officer. Tinkler, who has a proven track record in fast-growing entrepreneurial businesses, including a stint as a Director within Epic’s Strategic Finance team and CFO at Mediatonic, is excited about the opportunity. “FuturLab has some incredibly exciting plans. I’m delighted to be working with James Marsden, Kirsty Rigden, Chris Mehers and the team to help support the next phase of our growth,” Tinkler expressed.
Chris Mehers, COO at FuturLab, also acknowledged the significance of this appointment. “Having someone of Steve’s calibre and experience joining us as CFO is yet another sign of the strides we’re taking as a fast-growing self-funded studio and speaks to the ambition we have for the years to come,” Mehers said.
