PS Plus has officially announced the new titles that fans can expect next month, including Need for Speed Heat, Toem, and Granblue Fantasy: Versus for Essential subscribers. A few more will join PS Plus on September 20th, including classic titles, and exclusives for Extra and Premium subscribers such as Deathloop. Here’s the full announcement from PlayStation’s feed:

Overall, the additions show that PS Plus is slowly beginning to find its footing. There’s a fair variety of games that are available across generations, which could be an issue for those who haven’t been able to get their hands on a PS5 just yet.

There’s also a good selection of AAA titles, which adds the most value to the service, including more Ubisoft games like Assassin’s Creed Origins and Watch Dogs 2. But these are only for Extra and Premium members. Need For Speed may be a beloved franchise, but most players probably own it already. Essential subscribers still aren’t quite getting their money’s worth.

Toem is probably the most exciting announcement today. And for higher subscription levels, there more than a few indie games that deserve to be showcased. The Xbox Game Pass has been a remarkable champion for overlooked, underrated games that tend to succeed when they launch to the service on day one.

PS Plus will still need to do more to compete with other services. Adding classics like Syphon Filter 2 are definitely a step in the right direction. Oddities like the forgotten PSP’s Toy Story 3 are also a welcome surprise.

The upcoming classics for September are arguably an improvement over some of the latest additions. For a full list of the games coming up, you can review the official blog post here.
