F1 23, the latest installment in the popular racing series from developer Codemasters and publisher EA, has just revealed Oracle Red Bull Racing’s Miami Grand Prix car livery, as well as the new F1 Replays event type. This event type is arriving “later in July”, according to an official blog post from EA. It will allow players to take the place of any driver to recreate real-world events.
The new livery is a celebration of the real-world Austrian Grand Prix, which is slated for this weekend. Players must complete a hot lap challenge at the Red Bull Ring to unlock the Miami livery for F1 World and My Team modes. Here’s a promo image from today’s announcement tweet:

Anyone who logs in during the Austrian Grand Prix weekend will also receive Max Verstappen’s special edition Miami Grand Prix race helmet.
Cosmetics are always a fun way for players to express their fandom, but these real-world collaborations are a real treat. It emphasizes the series’ dedication to authenticity, and fans who enjoy a realistic approach are likely to be invested in real-world events to begin with.
Fortunately, the EA blog also hints that F1 World could include even more content featuring the British, Hungarian, and Belgian Grands Prix in July.
There’s a better sense of community and synergy with features like this, and F1 Replays is a clever, impressive elaboration on that.
Allowing players to compare themselves to actual events would be a satisfying standalone game, let alone as an addition to something as successful as F1 23. It provides an opportunity for players to practice and learn with professional examples, and it might even encourage a real-world career.
