Rainbow Six Siege is still pushing forward in its seventh year with Operation Vector Glare, and the new patch notes reveal several new features.
Here’s the official tweet, which includes a brief 45-second teaser:
Despite Extraction, purists and fans who enjoy more military action than sci-fi continue to keep Siege queues going strong. The tactical gameplay is pretty addictive, but it can sometimes feel a little stale, so the new update has some welcome changes.
New Operator details
The upcoming operator is “Sens”, who has plenty of health but less speed, giving the attacker a tank role. They also have a special R.O.U. Projector System ability that projects a turquoise screen, which is large enough to cut off crucial lines of sight.
This could actually draw in some new mains, since shooters with such a low Time to Kill mostly revolve around line of sight. Just keep in mind that the projector doesn’t actually block gunfire.
Also, you might expect to see Sens in the pro scene pretty soon, since the grace period for new operators has just been removed for eSports competition.
Content and technical updates
The new map, “Close Quarter”, is completely dedicated to Team Deathmatch. As a result, it’s a circular design, intended to speed up the gameplay rather than focusing on defense. This could be a great way to warm up.
Similarly, a new Shooting Range has been added to the Learn Area. This allows players to try out every gun and operator, including those they haven’t unlocked yet.
The new season of Year 7 will also bring new skins, balancing changes, and some technical improvements. Players will gain more control over their privacy and match cancellations, while friendly fire is going to begin receiving penalties.
If you’re still dealing with more serious bugs, the official blog post promises that “Main Bug Fixes” will be coming soon.
