Redfall, the upcoming coop vampire shooter from developer Arkane Austin and publisher Bethesda Softworks, just teased the brand-new interactive adventure Take Back Redfall. Fans can complete the online game for a chance to win a Redfall-themed Xbox Series X console. Players will have until launch day to enter, but only two winners will be selected.

Redfall launches on May 2nd, 2023, for PC and the Xbox Series X|S. Here’s the full Take Back Redfall announcement from Redfall’s official Twitter feed, including a look at the giveaway prize:

Redfall trailers have been a little divisive, which is likely due to the wacky tone and some lower-end visuals. But Redfall still seems conceptually sound, with a party game approach that encourages cooperative chaos and breezy gameplay with over-the-top hero abilities.

True, all of the trailers are doing their best to sell some notion of strategy via tactical comps. However, the true fun will probably come from exploring the open world with your friends and discovering bizarre new vampires to destroy. Redfall teased some interesting “Vampire Gods” last month in a brief story trailer.

The new interactive game is a throwback to choose-your-own-adventures. That’s actually a neat little piece of marketing. However, since Redfall’s quality has already been in question, the interactive adventure feels dusty and does not improve Redfall’s reputation.

It’s also a lot more work for fans to enter to win, compared to other Xbox console giveaways. Consider the countless MCU tie-ins, which have also boasted better artwork.

The Redfall console and remote both have a lot of negative space in their design. It feels a lot more like a cover jacket, and it’d be nice if the console featured the characters more prominently. The mysterious approach doesn’t really match the playful tone set by current trailers. However, fans should certainly be pleased nonetheless, at least for the unique collaboration.
