Arkane Austin’s open-world title, Redfall, has initiated its evolution with the release of the Redfall v1.1 patch. This sweeping update encompasses a host of enhancements spanning gameplay, combat, AI, environment, stability, multiplayer, accessibility, user interface, along with the resolution of a variety of bugs.
In an official note from Arkane Austin, the developers shared their gratitude for the millions of users who’ve journeyed through the treacherous yet alluring universe of Redfall. Acknowledging the monumental task of constructing such a large playground, the team recognized the necessity for ongoing improvements, which are being addressed promptly.
User feedback has shone a spotlight on significant areas needing enhancement, including enemy AI responsiveness, encounter frequency, vampire combat efficiency, and the overall graphical fidelity. These crucial issues find resolution in the first patch, which introduces numerous incremental updates intended to refine the Redfall experience.
GAMEPLAY IMPROVEMENTS
The v1.1 patch noticeably amplifies enemy encounter spawn rates throughout the open world. Sniper rifle users will enjoy improved aim down sight visibility. Also, breakable glass now shatters with the first impact from any gun, adding to the realism of the environment.
Players using additional ammo storage skills will now retain ammo above the standard weapon capacity across gameplay sessions. A significant change sees uninterrupted movement allowed for players when performing melee attacks against enemies. The patch also adds reliability to Devinder’s Translocate ability, especially when used in the Black Sun boss arena, and implements general mission fixes and improvements.
COMBAT & AI ENHANCEMENTS
Combat updates correct several instances of unresponsive enemies and improve vampire melee attacks, increasing the chance of striking moving players. Also, the combat behaviors of Cultist and Bellwether enemies have been improved, featuring faster reaction times.
Significant improvements have been made to human enemy navigation in terms of animation timing and responsiveness. Dormant vampires are now more likely to wake up from player-generated noise, enhancing the overall gameplay experience. Furthermore, enemy pathing options across open world areas in both districts have been upgraded, making for more seamless and immersive gaming.
ENVIRONMENT & PERFORMANCE
The environmental updates offer players higher chances of encountering diverse enemies while exploring the open world. Also, visual issues at a distance have been improved significantly, including materials and model adjustments. General improvements to collision detection and asset placement have been made throughout both districts.
The patch also addresses performance and stability issues. It solves an issue that prevented certain decal streaming textures from fully loading and rectifies instances where players could experience an infinite loading screen. The patch introduces optimizations in VFX particle counts, emitters, and spawn rates for a range of effects, improving the overall gaming experience.
MULTIPLAYER & ACCESSIBILITY
On the multiplayer front, the chances of players encountering enemies with special traits in multiplayer sessions have been increased. In addition, general improvements to stability and functionality in multiplayer lobbies have been rolled out.
The v1.1 patch also enhances accessibility by allowing left and right movement keys to be remapped to Left and Right Arrow keys, improving the experience for left-handed players. Screen Narration now supports additional paths for critical player communication and various other improvements have been made, including adjustments to the timing of subtitles, text size scaling for Bethesda icons, and contrast improvements.
USER INTERFACE
Several changes have been made to the UI as part of the Redfall v1.1 patch. Tutorial blades are now more responsive, and settings will revert correctly during active gameplay when cancelling in the Confirm Changes message prompt. Additionally, safehouse keys have been added to the Key Ring, and improvements have been made to menu navigation and feedback.
As the developers at Arkane Austin continue their commitment to refining and improving Redfall, players can expect more updates and enhancements in the future.
