Remnant 2 is a critically acclaimed roguelike shooter that isn’t stopping anytime soon. The development team at Gunfire Games has more ideas for the game in the future. In a recent interview, the President of Gunfire Games, David Adams, hinted at their interest in adding a survival-type experience.
During the interview, Adams said his team would love to add a new game mode like a survivor experience, but he doesn’t want to make any promises. His statement echoes the community’s vocal desire for a challenging, endless-loop experience within Remnant 2’s expanded world. However, the DLC is going to come first.
“Right now, we are focused on the second DLC we’re working on. That’s the ‘official’ answer. The ‘unofficial’ answer is we would love to explore a new game mode. Maybe not exactly like Survivor, but something that scratches the same itch. As a team, we are pretty organic in our plans for the game… who knows? We love the game and want to keep adding stuff to give more value to our players.”

While the official answer remains coy, Gunfire Games is laser-focused on delivering on their existing promises. The second DLC for Remnant 2 is well underway, with Adams confirming it will delve deeper into the existing worlds rather than introducing entirely new ones. However, he didn’t rule out the possibility of new environments and game modes arriving alongside the third DLC slated for 2024.
Beyond DLC plans, the interview teased continued support for Remnant 2 throughout the year. Cross-play, a highly anticipated feature, is “coming soon,” which is good news for the community. So, if any news comes of a survival mode, it won’t come out until the third DLC is released in 2024. The good news is that it’s on the team’s mind, so more feedback from the community concerning this would likely help.
