The game Remnant 2, developed by Gunfire Games, has received important updates after its release. These updates aim to improve the game and address feedback from the community. In a recent interview with PC Gamer, Ben Cureton and Cindy To, principal designers, discussed the team’s strategy for making these improvements.
According to the interview, the game developers want to keep the game challenging but also less frustrating for players. They say they listen to their community for ideas. If players find ways to have fun that the developers didn’t plan, the team supports them instead of stopping them. For instance, a build using the Ring of Spears made the developers add more items that activate skills.
Gunfire Games responded to player feedback by making changes to the game. They found a dodge exploit that let players bypass the respec cost. Instead of just fixing it, they made respeccing easier by turning the consumable respec item into a slightly more expensive but unlimited-use tool. They also added loadouts based on community requests to make it easier for players to use a wide range of gear and items.
The game’s focus on skill and mastery remains strong, while improvements in quality of life have also been made. According to Cindy To, the game emphasizes mastery by honing skills or obtaining better gear. These changes aim to align with the game’s philosophy of mastery.
Gunfire Games’ recent DLC, The Forgotten Kingdom, strikes a balance between challenge and approachability. The DLC offers more core Remnant 2 content, including new bosses, environments, and a substantial campaign. It is priced affordably and lets non-DLC owners join their friends who have it, promoting a strong community.
