Surviving the apocalypse is no small feat, and the newly announced Medic archetype for Remnant 2 is specifically designed to aid in this challenging task. In a recent trailer released by Gunfire Games, the unique abilities and perks of the Medic are unveiled, offering insight into this healing-focused role.

Known as masters of healing and Relics, Medics excel at maintaining team health with superior efficiency compared to other archetypes. Their skillset is tailored around sustaining the team’s presence in combat, providing high recovery rates from injuries while demonstrating a resistance to interruptions during Relic use. Consequently, the Medic role always stands prepared to lend support when needed.

The foundation of the Medic’s healing abilities is the ‘Regenerator’ perk. This prime perk enables Medics to regain a Relic charge after restoring a certain amount of health to themselves or allies, including companions. Notably, both healing from Relics and skills contribute to this regenerative mechanism.

In terms of specific skills, the Medic archetype boasts an array of recovery methods, each customizable to the player’s preferred style. ‘Wellspring’, their first skill, involves creating a healing well by punching a hole in the ground. While it is the most efficient healing skill, it’s restricted by its size and fixed location.

Their second skill, ‘Healing Shield’, generates a protective barrier around allies that grants a small, continuous health boost over time. This skill is particularly effective when an ally’s health is critically low, providing both protection and healing. It is also suitable for healing a team on the move.

‘Redemption’, the Medic’s third skill, acts as the ultimate healing ability. A chargeable skill, Redemption applies a progressively powerful heal over time and can revive all downed allies while granting substantial regeneration. This skill is ideal for swiftly restoring team health and mitigating damage, serving as a crucial lifeline during intense battles.

Enhancing the Medic’s healing efficiency further is the archetype trait ‘Triage’, which boosts healing effectiveness, solidifying the Medic’s status as a master of health recovery.

The Medic archetype provides a supportive role to players who appreciate the task of keeping their team in optimal fighting condition. With its robust healing abilities and resilience, the Medic archetype adds a crucial layer of sustainability to any sized team, making the challenge of navigating the apocalypse somewhat less intimidating. However, as the developers hint in the trailer, survival in Remnant 2 will still require plenty of firepower. The team’s overall success, it seems, comes down to a combination of skill, strategy, and, indeed, “lots and lots of bullets”.

Remnant 2 is releasing for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on July 25, 2023.
