Remnant 2, the highly anticipated action RPG sequel from developer Gunfire Games and publisher Gearbox Publishing, just released a new cinematic teaser for the new world “Dran”.
Remnant 2 doesn’t have a concrete release date yet, but it’s expected in summer 2023. It will be available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as next-gen consoles for PlayStation and Xbox. You can watch the full Dran teaser on the Remnant 2 YouTube channel:
Although cinematic environments may not seem as compelling as a traditional trailer, these little glimpses don’t just show off some pretty visuals.
Remnant: From the Ashes was unusually decisive with its settings, featuring minute details that directly expands the lore. In turn, these environments inform the enemy designs, backstories, and behavior. The worlds also create a constant sense of urgency in every mission and emphasize desperate survival.
There has always been a very particular kind of apocalyptic bleakness to Remnant’s cities, and Dran is a natural evolution to the struggling state of urban areas in From the Ashes. It certainly contrasts Yaesha, which was also revealed in a similar teaser earlier this month. There is an overall sense of tragedy in its decay, prisoners, flames and music.
It’s a delight to see that Remnant 2 will not only be consistent in quality and creativity, but also push the limits of density and scope. Dran looks filled to the brim with every kind of architecture, so that every corner feels genuinely lived in. It borrows from a very distinct time period and emulates it very well.
Fans should absolutely pay attention to these promising teasers, which also happen to include a lot of outright exposition in the trailer descriptions.
