If you’re a fan of the sci-fi colony sim that will have you guiding a tribe of survivors through a perilous journey back to the stars known as, RimWorld, then you are in luck if you have a Steam Deck! The well-known strategy game has received a new patch that brings full working support to the new handheld device from Valve.
A few weeks ago, they released a public beta that gave modders a chance to correct issues with the newer version of Steamworks API. This appears to have worked and all of the known issues are hopefully fixed:
The Steam Deck requires that we use a new version of the Steamworks API which breaks compatibility with a few mods. To prevent breakages, three weeks ago, we released a public beta to give modders time to update, and we personally reached out to dozens of modders to help prevent mods from breaking. The known incompatibilities should be solved now – thanks to all modders who responded!
The UI and controls for the Steam Deck have been greatly improved. Scrolling is now available by dragging your finger on the Steam Deck, and touch screen scrolling in general is now much better to use. If you felt like the zooming on the device was slow, that has been sped up for a more seamless experience!
You can find all of the details on the update in the RimWorld 1.3.3326 Patch Notes post. Unfortunately, if you don’t have a Steam Deck, you will likely be waiting a while because Valve has still not sent out models to all of the people who have been waiting since the announcement!
