Riot Forge, a third-party publishing label within Riot Games responsible for creating new games within the League of Legends universe, has just announced that their newest game, The Mageseeker, will be available to play soon.

The publisher has already released titles Hextech Mayhem and Ruined King: A League of Legends Story, which both launched to critical success. Ruined King in particular was lauded for expanding on the Runeterra setting, breathing life into a world that previously only existed in stories and artwork.

The Mageseeker, Riot Forge’s second game to take on the lore of the League of Legends world, is expected to similarly expand the narrative and is already receiving lots of hype from fans.

The game follows Sylas, a champion in League of Legends and a revolutionary in Demacia. Imprisoned at a young age for being a mage, the tragic villain seeks to destroy the city for its ignorance and free fellow mages from their oppression, no matter the cost.

Mageseeker seems to take place just after Sylas escapes from prison, and is expected to expand on the lore featured in the Lux comics Riot Game commissioned Marvel to make.

The Lux comics featured one of the most fan-beloved stories in the League of Legends universe but had a few plot holes fans have been complaining about for a while. The lore of Demacia in general has a lot of unanswered questions as of late, so hopefully Mageseeker does a good job of bringing the whole region up to speed in the narrative.

Mageseeker was developed by Digital Sun Games, the development team behind the rogue-like Moonlighter. Given Sylas’ ability to steal magic paired with this dev team, its very likely that The Mageseeker is going to be a rogue-like title.

Riot Forge announced that the game is Coming soon to Nintendo Switch, Playstation, Xbox, GOG, Steam, and Epic Games. There is no current release date announced.
