Team Ninja’s upcoming PlayStation 5 game, Rise of the Ronin, will be out on March 22. It’s an open-world game where players are at the end of the Tokugawa Shogunate in Japan. It’s a familiar combat style to Team Ninja, but so much more.
A PlayStation Blog post revealed a lot of different things coming to the game. While it goes into more detail, we’ve got everything you need to know here. You can play as a Ronin and try different fighting styles in simple but intense battles. There’s a whole range of weapons, like swords, guns, and throwing weapons.
The game takes place in three big cities from the Edo Era. These cities mix Western culture with traditional Japanese beauty. You’ll start in Yokohama, move on to Edo (now Tokyo), and end in Kyoto. In Kyoto, you’ll see the political and cultural heart of Japan, but some parts of the city are in bad shape because of all the fighting during the Bakumatsu.
All the areas players will be able to go through:
- Yokohama
- Kannai – Yamashita
- Kannai – motomachi
- Edo
- Asakusa
- Nihonbashi
- Kyoto
- Gosho
- Mibu
You can get around the game world using grappling ropes, horses, and gliders. The grappling rope helps you move around quickly, even during fights. Horses are the fastest way to travel, and gliders let you cover long distances and sneak around from high up.
In the game, there are special points called Hidden Sword Banners that let you travel quickly and stock up on items. You can also meet and help people around the cities, do special missions, and participate in random events. You can also team up to fight bad guys and work on improving public safety.
There are lots of different things to do in the game, like training in dojos, doing horseback archery, getting better at using weapons, and going on quests to collect cats. You’ll also find tricky courses that need special skills and devices to reach cool rewards.
