Following years of speculation and leaks, Rockstar confirmed the development of an untitled Grand Theft Auto game in February 2022. The game in development, which is believed by many to be Grand Theft auto 6, by is due to be the eighth main Grand Theft Auto game, following Grand Theft Auto V, and the sixteenth installment overall.

With it being over nine years since the release of GTA 5, which still sees huge active player numbers and has received next-gen releases to keep the game alive across three console releases, fans have been understandingly following news about GTA 6 very closely.

Development of the game has been a turbulent affair for Rockstar Games, who have faced delays and setbacks partially due to the eagerness of their expecting fans. One such setback included a massive social engineering attack against the company, which resulted in the entire in-development game being stolen and ransomed to the company.

Despite all this, fans will be excited to know that we may be seeing GTA 6 hit the shelves even sooner than many may expect.

According to an insider rumor, Rockstar Games may be aiming to release GTA 6 during the 2024 holiday season, meaning players may be able to get their hands on the game as soon as next year.

This information comes from @TezFunz2 via the GTA forums. Tez2 is a reliable source for Rockstar related news and leaks, and has been proven a credible source on several leaks reported by TryHardGuides in the past.

A Twitter post by @GTA6Intel, an account dedicated to news about the game, summarizes Tez2’s insider post on the GTA forums.

While a holiday release would be ideal for Rockstar, Tez2 is quick to point out that the deadline is not set and stone and has shifted before in the past. Tez2 also says that Rockstar may cut “portions of the game” and hold it for future DLC to meet the holiday 2024 release window.
