Rust is back with a new update for the month of April, featuring upgrades to Map Markers, a new Ping system, and a double horse saddle. In line with the season, the Easter egg hunt event as well as the Easter store will both be making a comeback in Rust.

Here’s an in-depth overview of some of the major changes, enhancements, and additions brought by the Rust April update:

Map Markers

This month, map markers received an update, with the maximum number of markers increased to 5 and a new set of controls to allow players to keep important information alongside their map. Placing more markers is as simple as using the RMB as normal, and markers are deleted in the same way. Also, teammates may now view all of the leader’s markers as well as their own.

If a player reaches the maximum number of markers (5 by default), another marker must be deleted to make space. To edit a marker simply click on it with the LMB and use the controls that pop up. Players may also customize their map marker by choosing from a variety of colors and icons available, as well as adding a label, which will be reduced to three characters when shown on the compass.

Pings

Pings are a new mechanism added in Rust that will allow players to communicate with other players more efficiently while using reconnaissance tools such as cameras, drones, and binoculars. All teammates will be able to see each other’s ping, even if they are not the team leader.

Double Horse saddle

Among the highlights of Rust April Update, is the new double saddle item that lets two players mount and ride a horse. Wild horses spawn with a single-seater saddle and players can now swap it for a double-seater via the horse radial menu if they have the required saddle item. Saddle items are available for purchase from the stablemaster or via crafting.

World Model Refresh

The new refresh for the world models has finally arrived with the April Update. Finally, players will be able to tell if they have dropped HV, Incendiary, or Normal Rockets. Along with the world model refresh, new world models have been created for the different types of shotgun shells. Some of the items that have had a world model refresh are :

  • Road Sign Gloves
  • Snap Trap
  • High-Velocity Rocket
  • Incendiary Rocket
  • Shotgun Ammo

Easter event

Finally, the East egg hunt event has returned, which means that starting next week, a new Easter egg hunt will begin every 24-38 hours in-game. Players will have 3 minutes to collect as many eggs as they can. Those who have earned the top three spots on the leaderboard are rewarded with special eggs. These eggs can be cracked open for various types of loot ranging from scrap up to an M249.

Those who did not place in the top three will still have the opportunity to receive rewards, as 10 painted eggs can be upgraded to bronze egg. 10 bronze eggs can also be upgraded to a silver egg, and ultimately to gold. There are also a variety of items available to aid players during their egg hunt, including the Easter Basket for instant egg collection and the Bunny Onesie and Ears for an Egg Vision advantage.

The Easter store has also reopened with a new Egg Suit and Rustigé Egg. The Egg Suit is a craftable costume with an egg motif that can be painted when unequipped. Meanwhile, this year’s exquisitely handcrafted Rustigé Egg will contain a miniature underwater lab scene.

Rust‘s April update also includes various UI/UX changes, gameplay improvements, and several fixes, among other things, which you can read more about on the official Rust website.
