While the Saints Row reboot last year wasn’t exactly what fans were hoping for, many thought that the developer of the classic series, Volition, could improve in the next title. However, it seems like that won’t be happening as a former VFX lead artist has stated that the full studio has closed today.
According to former Senior Visual Effects Artist Ryan Hoss, the studio has completely closed down today, although he doesn’t give more information than that.
A notice was posted shortly by Volition after the VFX artist made the announcement, stating that the closure is happening as a result of the Embracer Group’s lost funding and restructuring.
Embracer Group made headlines this past May when it was announced that the conglomerate had lost out on a $2 billion deal with an unknown investor. Early this month it was revealed by Axios that this investment was from Saudi Arabian-backed Savvy Games, which pulled out of the deal.
This is a developing story and more information will be added as it becomes available. Make sure to check back at Try Hard Guides for all the latest information about the closing of the Saint’s Row studio, Volition.
