Fort Solis, a story-driven adventure and thriller set on the Red Planet, has just released a brand-new gameplay trailer featuring key characters, a strange incident, disaster and more.
Fort Solis is currently slated to launch on August 22nd, 2023. It will be available on PC and PlayStation 5, with no word on ports for other consoles. You can watch today’s Dark side of the Red Planet trailer on publisher Dear Villagers’ YouTube channel:
Fort Solis has already revealed quite a lot, especially with the exclusive gameplay showcase on IGN that revealed 14 full minutes just yesterday. It did a terrific job of showing key mechanics, some compelling performances, and establishing the moody ambiance. However, that showcase was centered on an early part of the narrative.
Today’s teaser feels grander in scope, and hints at the central conflict that players will have to solve and survive. There’s a great sense of desperation, escalation, and some familiar obstacles in space that fans of the genre will appreciate.
The trailer description reiterates how Fort Solis is comparable to a Netflix series that can be binged, an idea that’s also on the Steam page. So, today’s new teaser is more in line with the cinematic approach, and it feels very much like a stylized trailer for an upcoming blockbuster.
In Fort Solis, players respond to an alarm call on a remote mining base, and must uncover what happened to the crew while a storm approaches. It sounds like the premise of an Alien film, and there is a touch of horror in today’s teaser. It feels very patient and character-driven, and may also resemble The Expanse: A Telltale Series, which launched the first chapter just last week on July 27th.
