Sea of Thieves revealed a number of changes that have been made to Captaincy and Milestones, all of which are set to be released in June alongside the Captain’s Week Event.
In Season Seven, the ability to become a Captain was first introduced in Sea of Thieves. Since then, developers at Rare have been considering player feedback and internally assessing Captaincy and its rewards. As a result, Sea of Thieves has prepared some exciting permanent adjustments coming soon.
Among the upcoming changes set to arrive in Sea of Thieves are rebalances to a large number of Pirate and Ship Milestones, which are intended to make gaining Classes easier. This implies that reaching Legendary status in any Milestone Alignment will be substantially easier, as it will be simpler to earn a total of 50 Classes from any of the Milestones within the Alignment. When these adjustments are implemented, existing Milestone progress will be automatically converted so that players can continue to earn progress and any relevant Milestone Classes will increase.
Starting in June, saving cosmetics to ship will be free and the gold cost for ship decorations and Trinkets will be significantly reduced. The gold cost for Captain’s ship cosmetics, such as Captain’s Tables, Drapes, Beds, Rugs, Chairs, Chandeliers, and Curtains, will also be reduced. Any Captain’s Beds unlocked through Milestones are now available at Class 2 rather than Class 5, allowing players to rest on plush beddings earlier in the game.
Sea of Thieves has also teased some details about the Captain’s Week Event, which will launch alongside the arrival of the new permanent adjustments in June. During this event, players can earn cosmetic rewards and enjoy a gold multiplier when playing on Captained ships.
Sea of Thieves will also offer an exclusive cosmetic, the Gilded Sovereign Captain’s Table, to players who reach certain Pirate Milestones prior to the start of Captain’s Week. If a player has earned Class 50 in any Pirate Milestone from The Gold Seeker, The Voyager, The Emissary, The Hunter, The Feared, The Guardian, or The Servant, with the exception of Nautical Miles Sailed, Days at Sea, Provisions Cooked, Provisions Eaten, and Cannons Fired, they will automatically receive the exclusive Gilded Sovereign Captain’s Table reward.
