The mythical Gratitude Pokémon, Shaymin, is now making its global Pokémon GO debut in its Land Forme. This comes after its initial appearance during Pokémon GO Fest 2022. Trainers worldwide can participate in the free global Special Research story, “Grass and Gratitude,” starting on April 20, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. local time during Sustainability Week. Completing the Special Research will grant trainers an encounter with Shaymin.

Professor Willow needs the help of trainers to track down Shaymin, who has been sighted in the area. By assisting Professor Willow, the gratitude displayed by trainers could be the key to finding this elusive Pokémon. Sustainability Week takes place from Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. to Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. local time.

During this event, the Fruit Pokémon Bounsweet will also make its Pokémon GO debut. Bounsweet can evolve into Steenee with 25 Bounsweet Candy, and Steenee can further evolve into Tsareena with 100 Bounsweet Candy. Other Pokémon, including Squirtle, Shellder, Wailmer, Drilbur, Cottonee, Petilil, Dwebble, Foongus, and Froakie, will appear more frequently in the wild. Some trainers might even encounter Larvitar, Binacle, or Bounsweet, with a chance of finding a Shiny one.

Pokémon like Cherubi, Drilbur, and Bounsweet can hatch from 7 km Eggs obtained during the event, with a possibility of hatching a Shiny one. Event bonuses include increased souvenirs from Ultra Buddy Pokémon, leaf-wrapped gifts with Berries from Great Buddy Pokémon, and reduced distance to earn hearts with Buddy Pokémon.

Sustainability Week-themed Timed Research will be available throughout the event, featuring tasks to earn items, encounters with Drilbur, Trubbish, and Bounsweet, and the chance of encountering a Shiny one. Additionally, Sustainability Week-themed Field Research tasks will offer encounters with Drilbur and the potential to find a Shiny one.

New avatar items will be available for purchase, including a Bounsweet Hat, Steenee Shirt, and Tsareena Boots. Trainers who caught Shaymin during Pokémon GO Fest 2022 can still access and complete the Special Research, giving them an opportunity to encounter Shaymin once more.
