Atlus revealed, through posts on both their site and official Twitter profile that Shin Megami Tensei V, the fifth installment in the acclaimed JRPG franchise, has reached the impressive mark of 1 million copies sold worldwide. Shin Megami Tensei V was first released on November 11, 2021.
The announcement of the achievement was celebrated with the reveal of a new illustration by Masayuki Doi, the game’s character designer, featuring the game’s protagonist in its Nahobino form. You can check out the post in which Atlus revealed the reaching of the mark below:
The breaking of the mark is an impressive feat, but it can mean even more to the fans of the franchise who eagerly await for Shin Megami Tensei V to receive a version for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC, as the success could very well pave the way for a release on said platforms. It’s important to point out that the title was among the many games featured in the massive Nvidia leak which also featured the recently announced Kingdom Hearts IV.
In Shin Megami Tensei V, players take on the role of a high school student who, after mysteriously awakening in Da’at, a new version of Tokyo populated by waves of dangerous demons, and having his life saved by a mysterious warrior, must embark on a journey as the Nahobino, a being neither human nor demon. As you can see from above, in true Shin Megami Tensei fashion, the title features both a wide array of enemies, many of which can be enlisted to fight side by side with you during your journey, as well as a new iteration of the franchise’s acclaimed turn-based combat system.
