What is Skull and Bones?

Skull and Bones is an upcoming action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Singapore and published by Ubisoft, set to be released in February 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Amazon Luna, and Microsoft Windows. The game revolves around piracy and naval warfare, introducing a fantastical setting during the late 17th century, which marks the historical Golden Age of Piracy. Players are immersed in a world where they take control of a customizable pirate ship, engaging in both single-player and multiplayer modes.

The game’s tactical action and open-world environment allow for strategic gameplay, with wind positioning assessed to gain advantages in battle. Players can amass a fleet, engage in treasure hunting, and partake in various naval battles, featuring additional ships such as sloops-of-war, frigates, and brigantines armed with diverse weapons.

The development of Skull and Bones has been a journey marked by various changes in direction and scope, as well as multiple delays. Its initial inspiration drawn from the naval battles of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. The game has attracted a lot of attention and been nominated for big awards. It’s even going to be made into a TV show.
