Ubisoft Singapore has unveiled the roadmap for Skull & Bones’ first year and endgame content. The video released promised a journey filled with merciless adversaries, empire-building, and thrilling world events. This game has huge expectations, especially with all the delays, but this roadmap shows it at least has a fighting chance.
The video is less of a roadmap than you’d expect and more like just presenting what’s coming with the game. Players will sail through the Indian Ocean and face off against legendary Pirate Lords like Philippe La Peste and Li Tian Ning. Each Lord commands formidable fleets, increasing in difficulty as players progress towards a showdown at the end of each season.
Tactical ship builds and new seasonal ships and gear will be key to conquering these Pirate Lords. While you try to take those enemies on, world events will introduce dynamic challenges, rewarding players with loot. Merchant convoys and elite warships will guard faction settlements that can be plundered.
The endgame is about establishing your own empire. The Helm, which acts as a hub, offers the chance to seize factories and control trade routes. These factories generate passive income, allowing players to focus on strategic expansion by upgrading production, quality, and trade routes. Hostile Takeovers are possible, so factions and guilds will be more like Eve online than World of Warcraft.
PvP activities like Helm Wagers gamble your entire coin purse, while Cutthroat Cargo paints a target on your back as you go after treasure. The reputation system is based on leaderboard placements determining exclusive rewards and bragging rights. Each season resets the leaderboard, so wipes keep things competitive.
The full video goes into a bit more detail, but I’ve given the important bits here. Ubisoft Singapore said that they will be adding more throughout the year. From bribing corrupt officials to commanding fleets along trade routes, it looks like a lot more than just a Sea of Thieves clone. We’ll have to see how it all plays out, but this is really interesting to see.
