Sniper Elite 5, the latest sniping adventure sequel from developer and publisher Rebellion, has just revealed that Season Pass Two’s next drop “Kraken Awakes” will launch this week on July 6th, 2023. It will feature a new fully automatic pistol, character skin, weapon skin, another free Deathmatch map, and a fresh campaign mission.

Sniper Elite 5 is available on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. You can watch today’s full breakdown, including a look at the Kraken Awakes content, on Rebellion’s YouTube channel:

The highlight of today’s breakdown is surely the upcoming campaign mission, as these missions remain the lifeblood of the series. Rebellion revealed that Vogel will be the returning antagonist, but players will be navigating an “oversized aircraft carrier”. That should be a genuinely compelling environment for a mission.

There will be plenty of stealth opportunities, given how complex carriers are, as well as the dark and rainy night. But it could also be quite busy, and the sight lines will definitely be unusual in such a contained location. It could be tough to recuperate from a mistake, and hopefully the mission doesn’t end up feeling too much like Hitman.

Fans should also enjoy the new Deathmatch map, which is set in an abandoned quarry. The rustic, weathered look has lots of personality. And brief glimpses of the map showcase how the devs have carefully laid out enough elevation and cover to distinguish itself from some familiar Call of Duty maps. The environment also offers a fresh kind of terrain.

However, there still seems to be some concentration on close-quarters combat. The structures look broad and dense, potentially encouraging players to infiltrate with the new automatic pistol more often than they snipe.
