Sonic Symphony World Tour, an upcoming musical tribute to the beloved Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, has just been announced with a new trailer. The event will be held in London on September 16th, 2023, as well as Los Angeles on September 30th, 2023.
Sonic Symphony World Tour will feature a full symphony orchestra and rock band, performing alongside classic Sonic scenes on the big screen. You can watch today’s announcement trailer on the official Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube channel:
The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise boasts an unusually extensive range of music, thanks to the evolution and variety of the games. Green Hill Zone is undoubtedly one of the most iconic little tunes, but there are just as many rock anthems and sweeping orchestral epics.
The franchise is still going strong thanks to the big performance from Sonic Frontiers. Not to mention the charming film adaptations, which have tremendous heart and a winning comedic spark. They have surely introduced many younger audiences to the game series.
It’s fortunate that the Sonic Symphony World Tour will be held in both London and Los Angeles, offering a decent chance for most fans to unite. According to the event’s official site, fans can expect the 8-bit and 16-bit songs as well, but the full roster of featured games has not been confirmed.
It’s hard to imagine that every single one will be included. Today’s trailer revealed images from many different titles, so fans can rest assured that both the original Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic Frontiers will at least be involved.
It’d be nice if some of the more obscure titles appeared, but it’d be tough to cover such an expansive timeline without hitting the obligatory sequels. Either way, this is an incredible gesture and opportunity for the fans. And any celebration of gaming music is worthwhile, as it often goes underappreciated.
