For a short time, PC gamers can get the Legendary Edition of Space Crew – a cartoon spaceship simulation game – at no cost on Steam. This offer is part of a promotion by the developer Runner Duck to spark interest in their upcoming title, Badlands Crew. If you’re ever interested, hurry and get it.
For those who want more of an explanation, I’ll cover it more below. Space Crew: Legendary Edition is a game about managing a crew and customizing a ship. It’s like FTS but dumbed down a bit and with more cartoon-like graphics. It’s available for free on Steam until March 14, 2024.
In Space Crew: Legendary Edition, players become United Defense Force captains responsible for protecting Earth from an alien threat called the Phasmids. Players must recruit and train their crew, customize their ship, and undertake diverse missions throughout the galaxy to succeed. These missions range from surveillance and bounty hunting to reclamation. The game introduces “Away Team” missions, enabling players to disembark and explore locations on foot.
The Legendary Edition offers an expansion to the base game with a new campaign called “Android Ambush,” featuring a rogue android army as the main antagonist. This introduces new enemies, ships, and gear for players to unlock. Additionally, players can discover and recruit crew members with unique abilities and superior stats throughout the game. These crew members can be found during rescue missions, Away Team missions or unlocked through codes obtained from community competitions.
Marking this down to free is a pretty big jump. I’ve been following this game for a bit over a year, and it’s never gone below $20 as far as I can remember. I’ve gotten it, so now it can sit in my library to never be played; I recommend you do the same.
