Square Enix’s team-based shooter Foamstars is preparing for its fourth season, called “Future Funk.” The new season starts on May 16th, 2024, and offers new content, fun events, and a more colorful theme. This is just in time because the game isn’t soaring as Square Enix would hope.

According to the announcement, Season 4 introduces three new maps to Bath Vegas. “Manami An” is a luxurious battleground set in a VIP resort with open spaces, bridges, and seaside areas. “Ghoulish Glide Graveyard” offers a spooky theme-park map for surprise attacks, while “Sing Swing Circus” brings a burst of color and fun with a circus theme, including strategic launch poppers and a central bridge.

Season 4 is also coming with new maps and a mix of competitive and casual events. In the “Ranked Party” events, players can climb the leaderboards in either the team-based “Tribe-Vibe” or solo “Lonestar” modes. For a wacky twist, “Extreme Party” dramatically changes the rules. “Pitchside Home Run Party” focuses on powerful knockbacks with everyone playing as Coiff Guy, while “One Shot Chill Party” boosts attack power in small-team battles. And for pure fun, “Happy FriYAY Party” offers a no-pressure environment where players can preview the upcoming Season 5 Foamstars.

To be honest, this push seems to be trying to counteract Foamstars’ issues. The game once again offers players the chance to earn rewards with the new Future Funk Season Pass. Players can access unique skins and items for characters like Soa, Gito, Tonix, and Chloe Noir by playing matches, completing missions, and taking on challenges. This is what you’d expect for a season pass. For those seeking additional rewards, there’s also a Premium Pass option available, providing instant access to the “UNDEAD” skin for Rave Breaker.
