The Star Wars strategy game being developed by Bit Reactor and Electronic Arts is still on schedule. This is despite recent restructuring at EA and the cancellation of another Star Wars project. Bit Reactor made sure fans knew theirs was still on track.

Bit Reactor shared an update on X (Formerly Twitter), acknowledging the challenges in the industry and expressing condolences. They even mentioned their close relationships with other teams at Respawn. However, they assured fans their Star Wars game “was unaffected by last week’s news.”

This news comes after EA announced layoffs affecting around 5% of their workforce and a change in focus towards “owned IP, sports, and massive online communities.” While the changes impacted some teams, Bit Reactor confirmed their project was not directly involved.

According to recent reports, a project in development at Respawn Entertainment has been canceled. The project was said to be a first-person shooter set in the Star Wars universe and may have featured a Mandalorian protagonist. It’s been mentioned that the project was still in its early stages.

Bit Reactor, a studio from Maryland made up of experienced developers from Firaxis Games, who are known for creating games like XCOM and Civilization, has been confirmed to be working with EA and Respawn on a Star Wars project set for release in 2022. In addition to the strategy game, a new title called Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was also announced simultaneously.

While there isn’t much information available about the Star Wars strategy game, Bit Reactor has stated that development is ongoing. They haven’t announced a release date but have expressed their intention to share more details “as soon as it’s ready…”
