TactiCon, an online celebration of strategy games from developers of all sizes, has just revealed its 2023 lineup with over a hundred recent titles. TactiCon’s second event will be held on Steam and fully online. It’s slated to run between May 11th and May 15th, 2023.
Some of the larger selections revealed today include Aliens: Dark Descent, SpellForce: Conquest of Eo, The Wandering Village and more. Here’s the big announcement from TactiCon’s official Twitter feed, including a link to the full list of selections and their details:
TactiCon is a brilliant new convention for fans of the strategy genre. It refines the busy gaming industry into a digestible collection of titles that really lean into strategy. But the list also features a lot of indie gems that could otherwise go unnoticed. So, TactiCon isn’t just an ideal curation, but also a way to champion developers that really deserve a look.
Fortunately, some of the larger titles like Aliens: Dark Descent, which showed off a new pre-order trailer on Alien Day last week, also have the IP familiarity to draw more casual gamers too. TactiCon has wisely defined its standards and choices, so that fans of the genre and newcomers alike can feel a rewarding sense of discovery.
The strategy genre is very unique, and it is often precariously balanced between challenging the target players too much or too little. There’s a certain thrill in successfully building your own synergy, cleverly adapting, and managing effectively.
TactiCon’s new 2023 lineup once again proves how well the hosts understand the fanbase, and what makes strategy so appealing. Hopefully, it leads to even more support and interest for the genre and hard-working devs.
