Capcom revealed that Akuma, the well-known Street Fighter antagonist influenced by the Satsui no Hado, is set to join the Street Fighter 6 lineup on May 22nd, 2024. Players have been eagerly awaiting Akuma’s addition to the game, and he is expected to bring his intense quest for power and powerful fighting techniques to the game.

Akuma’s appearance in Street Fighter 6 showcases his intense focus on strength. His new look includes gray hair and even more powerful muscles, suggesting the impact of his dark power on his body. In the World Tour mode, players will face him as a Master in the new Enma’s Hollow stage. However, those who train under Akuma need to be wary of the corrupting influence of the Satsui no Hado.

We’re not sure if Satsui no Hado is a game mechanic or just a nod to the story. Either way, it’s good to keep an eye out if you go to him for training.

While Akuma keeps his essential moves, such as fireballs (Gou Hadoken, Zanku Hadoken), dragon punch (Gou Shoryuken), and spinning kick (Tatsumaki Zanku-Kyaku, he has introduced some new tactics. The Ashura Senku movement has weaknesses but can be taken advantage of with a surprise Oboro Throw. His new techniques, the Adamant Flame, a strong forward thrust, and the Demon Raid, an aerial attack with several follow-ups, add depth to his strategic options.

Akuma has a variety of powerful moves at his disposal. These include energy blasts like the Messatsu Gohado and Tenma Gozanku and close-range attacks like the Empyrean’s End. Also, players can use the Sip of Calamity throw technique. The devastating Shun Goku Satsu (Raging Demon) also returns as a Level 3 Super Art, accessible when Akuma is in a Critical Art state.

In addition to Akuma’s release, a significant balance patch is on the way to tweak gameplay for the entire Street Fighter 6 roster. Year 1 Ultimate Pass holders can anticipate receiving the Enma’s Hollow stage at no extra cost, while extra outfits will be up for grabs for Akuma, Rashid, A.K.I, and Ed, including Akuma’s classic Super Street Fighter II Turbo look.
