Sword Art Online’s upcoming Scherzo of Deep Night movie is set to premiere in October of this year!
The hit light novel series, originally created by Reki Kawahara, will be adapted into another movie installment, titled Sword Art Online -Progressive- Scherzo of Deep Night. It is a sequel to Sword Art Online -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night, which premiered in Japan on October 30, 2021. Both films were based on the Sword Art Online Progressive spin-off light novel series that builds on the “Aincrad arc” of the original Sword Art Online series. Scherzo of Deep Night is the title of Sword Art Online Progressive‘s fourth volume. Likewise, the movie is set in the next-generation VRMMORPG “Sword Art Online.”
Sword Art Online -Progressive- was originally scheduled for August 2023 but was delayed due to issues related to COVID-19. Recently, Sword Art Online announced that the Scherzo of Deep Night movie will finally premiere in Japan on October 22, 2023. The animation production company for Scherzo of Deep Night is A-1 Pictures. The new SAO film is produced by returning staff from Aria of a Starless Night, including director Ayako Kounou, character designer and chief animation director Kento Toya, action director and monster designer Yasuyuki Kai, sub-character designers Aya Akizuki and Keisuke Watanabe, and music composer Yuki Kajiura. The main cast includes the following:
- Haruka Tomatsu as Asuna. She is a Japanese voice actress and singer known for her roles as Zero Two in Darling in the Franxx, Lala Satalin Deviluke in To LOVE-Ru, Kyoko Hori in Horimiya, and more.
- Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Kirito. He is a Japanese voice actor who was known for his role as Sorata Kanda from The Pet Girl of Sakurasou, Sora from No Game No Life, and Sōma Yukihira from Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma, to name a few.
- Inori Minase as mito. She is a singer and voice actress notable for her role as Jun Naruse in The Anthem of the Heart and as Yuki Takeya in the anime television series School-Live!
- Shiori Izawa as Argo. She is a Japanese voice actress previously known for her role as Mary Hughes in Fairy Tail, Kawara in Log Horizon, and Shiri in Durarara!!
